GMIS Announcement, Al Ain
GMIS is an initiative by the UAE’s Ministry of Economy and UNIDO in collaboration with the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Future of Manufacturing. This was an invite only gathering to announce the Global Manufacturing Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) initiative to the world. The announcement launches a year-long global campaign in the run up to the first Summit, which will take place in Abu Dhabi in September 2016, starting with an international roadshow to build public, social, corporate and government support for GMIS. The event was held at Strata Manufacturing PJSC Facilities in Al Ain. Strata is an aerospace design and manufacturing outfit that was formed five years ago and is a major supplier to, among others, Boeing. The event was attended by prominent leaders including Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, the U.A.E’s economy minister, Director General of UNIDO, LI Yong, Professor Alpha Condé, President of Guinea and over 200 public and private sector delegates including regional CEOs from some of the world’s most influential global corporations. PRECISE Group was invited to the event as experts on 3D printing in the region. The3DBee along with Maptech showcased desktop and industrial 3D printers to spread awareness about 3D printing and educate the delegates on how 3D printing can help the manufacturing sector. The event has received substantial media coverage from prominent media and publications such as Gulf News, Khaleej Times and Al-Bawaba among others.
